Tribute

Ricardo Townsend, affectionately known as Ricky or RickyT, was born in Panama on September 14, 1944.  His mother, Icilda, brought him to the U.S. when he was a little boy.  They eventually settled in Los Angeles and he attended schools and college there.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam War Era. Once honorably discharged he moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and worked at the Oakland Naval Supply Center for many years before becoming disabled.  This new freedom allowed him to travel back and forth to Los Angeles to visit his mother.  In addition to visiting his mother and family, Ricky was blessed to have a great deal of friends that spanned over six decades.

While living in Oakland, he met his future wife, Pamela and their marriage lasted 42 years. They enjoyed traveling the globe, going to the movies, watching their favorite TV shows together, and dining out at bay area restaurants.

Ricky was passionate about most sports, especially football.  He and his buddies formed their own Fantasy Football League which went on for several years. He also enjoyed playing Party Poker online and other online card games.

In 2000, Ricky was blessed with the gift of life by receiving a heart transplant.  He passed away on May 15, 2018 unexpectedly and quietly at home  just a couple of weeks shy of his 18th birthday on June 4, 2018.

He is survived by family and friends.  We miss him more than words can say.

 Rest in Peace Ricky.
