Purificacion "Purita" Pineda

February 2, 1942 - May 1, 2020

Purificacion was born February 2, 1942 in Manila, Philippines, and passed away May 1, 2020 in San Pablo, California at the age of 78.

Purita, as she was known, immigrated to the United States in the early 1980's. She petitioned all her kids to immigrate to the US. This was not only important to her and for her own family's sake, but something she was very passionate about and would later help many families for the same cause, to get their family members here from their different countries to have a safer and better life in the US.

Purita was a parishioner of St. Paul Church in San Pablo CA. She loved to collect Angels and figurines of Saints. She also enjoyed going to the casinos, taking family road trips and spending time looking and caring for all of her children and grandchildren. In her early years, Purita loved gardening roses. She had some of the most beautiful, vibrantly colored roses to be found.

After suffering a stroke in 2011, which left her unable to walk and impaired speech, she lived the next 9 years at home. The daily visits of her family will give her joy and comfort and strengthen her patience, courage and faith to live. Purita had only recently gotten very sick and needed to be placed in hospice at home. Purita took her final breath, quietly and peacefully slept away on the evening of Friday, May 1, 2020, surrounded by her beloved family. She is now absent from her body and her soul is present with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The family is grateful for the care and attention she received from the hospice staff, nurses and aides who visited her almost everyday and especially to her caregiver for years, Auntie Evelyn.

Purita leaves her children to forever cherish her memory, Rusel, Rujel, Rufel Jr., Anna, Runel and Rufel III,  daugthers and son in laws, Jane, Luisa, Lyn, Nelia and Joel, grandchildren, Alexander James, Ryan, Nicholas, Lisa Rose, Jasmine, Matthew and Sophia, brother Benjamin Alviar and sisters Herminia Zenarosa and Corazon Ustaris, several nieces, nephews and a host of family friends.

Though the hearts of those left behind are heavy, they are comforted to know she is now at peace. Until the day God calls each of us home, her legacy will live on in the hearts and memories of those she loved.
