Daniel (Danny) DeGuzman Senica, 71, of Richmond, California, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2020.
Danny was born September 25, 1949 in Quezon City, Philippines to Felino and Celestina (DeGuzman) Senica. He was the youngest of 13 siblings. In December of 1974, he met Karen (Rosquites) and on January 10, 1976, they were married at the Iglesia Ni Cristo, Church of Christ Chapel in San Francisco, California.
He was enlisted in the United States Army, stationed in Fort Eustis, Virginia in 1971. After serving his time, he went to work for Western Airlines, now Delta Airlines, working in Customer Service. Throughout his time working for Delta, he was assigned to the San Francisco International Airport, Los Angeles International Airport and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. He returned to the San Francisco International Airport and retired after 35 years.
He was a faithful and active member of the Iglesia Ni Cristo, Church of Christ where he and his family were one of the pioneers in the local congregation of San Francisco, California. He was currently an active member in the local congregation of San Pablo, California; served as one of the head deacons in the local. He was very devoted to his duty in the church and loved his church family.
He was quiet, funny and loved by all. His kindness and smile left a lasting impression to everyone. He loved talking sports, especially about the San Francisco 49ers, San Francisco Giants and the Golden State Warriors. He rarely missed watching a game. You couldn’t talk to him or get his attention until the game was over. He loved listening to music all day, every day; especially Elvis, The Beatles, Bee Gees and many other favorite oldies. His favorite songs were “I Honestly Love You” by Olivia Newton-John which was his and Karen’s theme song and “Today” by John Denver which he sang to his girls as a lullaby when they were younger. Let’s not forget his love for Filipino action movies especially if it starred Fernando Poe, Jr.
He loved his grandchildren with all his heart. They brought so much joy and happiness to him. He loved attending their many events. Whether it was Evan’s baseball and band competitions; Isaiah’s basketball games; and of course his Princess Naomi’s hula performances. Even though he may not have had the strength at times, he always tried his best to be there.
Danny is survived by his wife, Karen; daughter Joyce Kay (Rufino) and husband Edgar; daughter Jillian Kate; and his three beautiful grandchildren, Evan Rey, Isaiah King and Naomi Reine; and his sister Felicidad (Baby) Van Hauter of Concord, California. Let’s not forget Bailey boy, his 11 year old Dachshund/Terrier mix who was always by his side.
He is also survived by his large family of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and many other dear family members of the Senica, Rosquites and Calip families.
Face masks and social distancing will be enforced for all services.
