Consuelo Pascual Respicio

November 15, 1930 ~ March 5, 2023 (age 92) 92 Years Old

Tribute

Much beloved mother Consuelo P. Respicio was born on November 15, 1930 in Laoag City, Philippines to Sabina and Gregorio Pascual.  Her childhood memories of living in the province was a source of laughter and delight for us her children and grandchildren.  Living in the countryside, mother developed a sense of adventure and can-do spirit, but she also liked to avoid her tedious farm chores by hiding high up in a favorite guava tree hoping to catch some "me time".  Who can blame her? Her family home enjoyed abundant fruit and vegetables which they grew in their own yard.  Like many of their neighbors in the community, they acquired their allotment of rice by working for the local rice plantation owner. Mom worked hard scholastically as well, earning a Masters Degree in Education from the University of the Philippines. Armed with her profession, she joined a new wave of professional immigrants into the United States in 1968, along with her husband and four children in tow.  Within three years of the family's arrival in the US, mother and father built their first custom house on Bernhardt Street in Richmond. This first phase of their American dream was only made possible with the generous support of relatives who came to this country before them.  Many memories and lifelong bonds of friendship were formed in this house. Over the next decade other relatives immigrating from the Philippines, also came to call the house on Bernhardt their home, transitioning themselves into their new life in America. Twelve years later, mother and father built their second house in El Sobrante where they not only grew vegetables and cultured orchids, but also kept goats and chickens.  It can be said of our filipino parents "You can take the pinoy out of the country , but you cannot take the country out of the pinoy". On the morning of Sunday, March 5, 2023, mother passed peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren.  She was 92 years old. She joins in death her beloved husband, Eugenio B. Respicio, her brother Santos Pasucal, and her mother Sabina Pascual, all in repose at Rolling Hills Memorial Park, in Richmond, California. She is survived by her children Arlene (Jack) Guccione, Florence (Mark) Deloso, Dennis Respicio, and Caesar Respicio; grandchildren Jack (Michelle), Cyrus, and Gianni Guccione, Julian, Jarod, and Paige; great-granddaughter Claire Guccione.
