In loving memory of our father, Arturo Perez Ramirez, who passed away on March 13, 2023 at the age of 91 peacefully in his San Pablo home. He was born in Mumford, Texas on December 28, 1931. In 1952, Arturo enlisted in the Army and served in the Korean War, stationed in Okinawa, Japan. After the Army he married and became the devoted husband of 54 years to Sara Ramirez who preceded him in death.
He was a loving father and together they raised Sara’s sister Pearl, and four children of their own. Arturo and Sara always opened their home to grandchildren, foster children, and many others. Our parents went to school to learn to do upholstery and it became our Dad’s side job because he was so good at it. You could find him in his garage working on different projects at once. When our Mom opened her business he became “Papa” to many of the daycare families and children who passed through Sara’s Rainbow Daycare. At the age of 62, he retired from Pacific Vegetable Oil company in Richmond, CA. He and Sara left San Pablo to enjoy their home in Oroville, CA. In Oroville you could find him feeding his animals, watering Sara’s roses, walking his dogs, planting his garden or out running his upholstery machines. Arturo and Sara also loved to travel together, and you could often find them on a cruise with friends. He loved being in Oroville and had many friends. After his wife’s passing in 2010, he returned to his San Pablo family home.
He has left a long living legacy. He leaves behind Pearl Ochoa (Robert Ochoa) and four children: Helen Sanchez (Ignacio Sanchez), Art Jr., David and Johnny Ramirez. Five sisters who will miss their big brother dearly and 6 Grandchildren, 6 Great- Grandchildren, and 5 Great-Great-Grandchildren. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Our father was a giving man who worked tirelessly to ensure his family had everything they needed. He faced every challenge in life with admirable strength and courage. Our father was a true role model who we will always look up to.
Services will be held at Wilson & Kratzer Mission Bells in San Pablo on April 3, 2023. Beginning with a public viewing from 11-1pm and a funeral service at 1pm followed by his burial at Rolling Hills Memorial.
Dad, Papa, Grandpa, Sleepyhead- you will live on forever in our hearts. We love you so much and find joy in knowing you are reunited with your love Sara, again.
Rest in peace.
